I have the honour to submit this my applica-
-tion for promotion to the Higher Grade of the subordinate
servants of the Government.
2.
At present am in Grade I, having been so
classified some years ago, and have been drwing the maximum salary
of that Grade since 1st. January, 1907.
3.
I can claim seventeen years' service, much the
longest portion of which being devoted to duties of an onerous
and responsible nature, such as, among others, the collection of
the most important items of Revenue, viz.:- Crown Rents and Taxes, The aggregate collection, for which I am responsible, involves a
sum of close upon 2 million dollars per annum, made up of compara-
-tively small amounts.
4.
After such a long period of service, and
considering my responsible duties, which, I believe, I have always performed to your satisfaction, I beg leave to urge, with due respect, that the salary I am receiving is inadequate.
5.
I beg therefore to request that, in view of
the facts above stated, you will be so good as to recommend my application for the favourable consideration of His Excellency
the Governor,
